I've been meaning to take a photo of that sign for ages, but I've just never gotten round to it. I have a wee laugh to myself everytime I go into Kirkwall XD I also love the fact that we have signs with ducks on them up here XD
I am SO JEALOUS that you live up there. Orkney has to be one of my favourite places ever, and I'm desperate to go back. Loved Stornaway, adored Sanday, got midged to death on Hoy, but loved every second of it.
I've got a bit of a plot bunny involving Herc and Douglas arranging for Arthur to experience a certain Very Short Flight... You know what and where I mean!
I moved here last summer and love it! The otter sign has just made the bus journey to Kirkwall every day more bearable lol! I'll be over on Hoy all next week being rained on and Midgey'd to death doing excavation work XD

I'd LOVE to hear more about the excavations on Hoy! Will you be posting anything about it on your LJ? The archaeology of that area is mindbogglingly amazing and right up my street. Luckily my husband is seriously into it all too, or our fortnight in Orkney would have been rather boring for him otherwise!
I might start posting about it, so if I do, I'll let you know! (or I'll start up a wordpress or seperate LJ) Probably going to be mostly boring stuff next week like Geophys and fieldwalking due to the weather, but I'll be sure to take my camera :D I can see Hoy from my house and I've never been before ;_; *smacks herself* XD
